Back To Work, New Foods & Roommate Chats

Happy Monday all. After a restful Sunday, I was ready to get back to running this morning. I decided to start the week with a 40 minute/4.5 mile run around my neighborhood. I was so temped to finish that last half mile to make an even 5 miles, but I'm learning to listen to my body. Forty minutes was on the schedule today, so 40 minutes is what I did. I was a little slow on mile 4, but that last .5 was right on pace with 9 minutes. I'm slowly getting the hang of this pacing thing, but as you can see from my splits, I still have a ways to go. I followed up my run with abs and arms. Lots of stretching tonight in preparation for a speed workout tomorrow.

Mile 1: 8:32
Mile 2: 8:40
Mile 3: 8:54
Mile 4: 9:37
Mile .5: 4:50

No recovery is complete without chocolate, and a Lake Champlain dark chocolate square from Whole Foods hit the spot. I really need to remember to snap the picture BEFORE I start eating. The teeth marks are a nice touch...

I didn't get to Trader Joe's yesterday, so my former college roommate B joined me today. Did I mention I live in same apartment complex as two of my former roommates? I'm seriously the luckiest girl alive. Before heading to TJ's, B & I met our other musketeer at Bibibop Asian Grill, a "Korean-Chipotle" restaurant, and I had the best salad bowl topped with every food option available - lettuce, purple rice, black beans, chicken, carrots, cucumbers, teriyaki sauce...yum!

My new favorite meal!

Today is the sixth year anniversary of the day my college roommates and I (we were the original fab 5) moved onto the 9th floor of Stradley Hall at Ohio State, so we celebrated by chatting online - minus one roommate who couldn't join us. I can't think of a better way to end the night.

Roommate Love

Please take the time to send positive thoughts and prayers to all the families affected by the tragic events in Washington D.C today <3
