Fall Friday, Food & Fro Yo

The weekend is finally here. I couldn't sleep this morning, so I was up at 5:30 am doing this...

Have I mentioned I'm working toward getting my Master's Degree? I enjoy having zero free time in my life. My legs have been sore for weeks, and today they felt 100% when I woke up - I'm telling you, foam rolling works! Last night while watching some football, I worked out my achilles and calves. No pain is a wonderful thing.

Today was the most beautiful fall day. The temperature dropped about 20 degrees overnight, and the crisp chill in the air made me so happy...and really want a pumpkin spice latte. I was so tempted to go for a run, but I knew that I would regret it tomorrow on my long run. If I keep stretching and fueling properly, I will be able to do six days per week soon. Just not yet. Rest does the body good. I only need to tell myself this 100 more times before I believe it.

So what to do when I take a day off from running - eat! My brother came over today to do laundry. I then treated him to dinner. This whole living in the same city thing is starting to feel very one sided. I've been wanting to try this restaurant called Royal Ginger that's located halfway between my apartment and my brother's...so approximately 7.5 minutes away. The food was excellent! I may have eaten all of mine and a little of my brother's. Fuel!

The best part about this restaurant is that it is located right next to my favorite frozen yogurt place in town. Fro yo definitely hovers near the top of my list of favorite things. I never thought I would be able to find a fro yo shop that compared with my beloved Let's Yo in NJ, but Cuzzins comes close. I'm pretty sure the employees there almost know me by name. I stick with the basics: dark chocolate fro yo with a little vanilla, chocolate chips, sprinkles, cookie dough pieces, a few chocolate covered pretzels, strawberries and blueberries. I get a little crazy on Friday nights.

What are some of your favorite fro yo toppings?

How do you fuel before a long run/workout?
