Final Long Run Recap & Buckeye Football

The last long run before the big race is done. And it was slooooooow; The slowest run I've done in a while. Because my last "long" run was only 6 miles two weeks ago, and last Saturday I cross trained on the elliptical, I decided my goal yesterday was only to complete the distance with zero focus on time. The last thing I need is an injury in the week leading up to my half. Even though this run was over one minute off my goal pace, I was happy to see that if I kept this pace in the race (which I'm not expecting to do), I would finish in around 2:15 hours. While that time is definitely not my goal (post to come on race goals tomorrow), it wouldn't be a complete disaster. Average pace - 10:26; Time - 1:44:21

Splits:

Mile 1: 9:31
Mile 2: 9:50
Mile 3: 9:56
Mile 4: 9:56
Mile 5: 10:42
Mile 6: 9:54
Mile 7: 10:17
Mile 8: 10:35
Mile 9: 11:11
Mile 10: 11:28

I was really happy with miles 1-4. I took time to fuel on mile 5 (a little early, but I was going slow, so I was already at almost 46 minutes halfway through mile 5). I was pleased with mile 6. Miles 7-8 were okay - I should have pushed a little harder there. I fueled again at 8.5 and was done by the time I hit the 9 mile mark. The last mile was a complete cool down. In hindsight, I probably should have stopped after 9, but I really wanted to do the full 10. Here's hoping that doesn't bite me in my booty this week.

After my run, I ate a quick lunch of Tuna on ezekiel bread with greek yogurt before heading out to Ohio State to watch the OSU/Wisconsin game. I always must headstand before leaving the house - It's good luck.

We watched the game from a bar on campus. After watching OSU games from the comfort of my couch for the last three years (because no one in NJ cared as much as I did), it's nice to be around so many Buckeye fans again...

B and I - Not at the game...

Final highlight of the night - I had to wait a really long time for my dinner at Noodles and Co (and ate the entire thing in five seconds, so I don't have a picture), so I got a free huge cookie - I know what I'm snacking on right now tonight...

How did your long runs go this week?

Is anyone a huge college football fan?

Huge cookie fan?
