I Love Mornings!

Well, I did it! I conquered my first Columbus early morning run. I was up at 6:15 to enjoy some coffee and peanut butter with half a banana before venturing out into the slightly colder, almost fall weather. I completed 6.25 miles around my neighborhood with speed+recovery thrown in - average pace 9:18. This was definitely one of the better workouts I've had in a while. I felt redeemed for the last few lackluster performances and super excited for my last two weeks of training before the big race. To top it off, I was sitting at my desk and ready to work by 8:45. I think this may be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Running early means fueling wisely the rest of the day. I have to remind myself to get in more healthy calories early rather than later since I already burned off so many before breakfast. For lunch, I spiced up a Trader Joe Grilled Veggies and White Meat Chicken salad by adding a little Tuna, a piece of toasted Ezekiel break and cucumber along with some greek yogurt. Dinner was a baked sweet potato with shrimp, brussel sprouts, asparagus, tomatoes and avocado. Yum.

After work, I drove to Front Runner Columbus - They have an awesome 60 day return/exchange policy, and my Saucony's just weren't cutting it. I feel that part of my leg fatigue problem are my shoes. I'm not feeling the support I usually feel in my heels, and the strain is slowly traveling up my legs. I've been a Brooks' girl since I started running, but I tried to switch it up instead of sticking with the same old brand. I definitely learned the hard way that choice of running shoes is one facet of your life where routine is a-okay. I was able to pick up the new Brooks Ghost 6's for free (they were the same price as my Saucony's) - thank you, Front Runner! I'm so excited to try these out tomorrow. I LOVED the Ghost 5's, and I'm sure the 6's will be even better. It just goes to show you - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Current sweet obsession: Skinny Cow ice cream bars - I think they're the best!
