Fall Running Clothes & My First Personal Training Session

Fall has definitely arrived in Columbus from the looks of my artsy leaf picture...

To keep up with the weather, I took out all my winter running clothes today. I didn't realize how much I had. I really stocked up on the Under Armour the last two seasons. Now, I just need to stop pining over everything on the Brooks Running website. I honestly buy more workout clothes than regular clothes...

I'm not really sure why I insist on acting like I'm an elite athlete, but today I decided to work out twice. I really had the urge to get in a run this morning, so I ran 3.2 miles in about 30 minutes on the treadmill in my apartment complex workout room. I love that this room exists. The gym, while not far at all, is not as close as my gym when I lived in NJ. I used to run the 1.5 miles to the gym and run back when the weather was nice. Now it's about a 15 minute drive, so if I want to work out quickly in the morning, this room is such a great option. I couldn't help but snap a picture since the room has floor to ceiling mirrors...

Tonight I had my first personal training session at the gym. We started off very simple with measurements. Fun fact: My left thigh is an entire inch smaller than my right thigh. ONE WHOLE INCH. That may not sound like a lot, but it really is. My trainer's response, "Well looks like we found the dominant leg." That is definitely something we'll work on.

I warmed up for 15 minutes on the elliptical before our session. We then went through multiple squat, push ups, hanging obliques and lots of ab work to finish. The ab exercises went fine; the squats were rough. I usually do squats with 8 pound free weights, so the 45 pound barbell was definitely a challenge, but I got through it. I can't wait to watch my progress month to month.

Since I only met my trainer one other time before tonight, I thought it was too early to ask him to snap of picture of me doing my first ever dead lift. So here's a lovely picture of the room we worked out in and a sneak peek at my training log...

What are your favorite strength exercises?

How often do you work out twice a day?
