One Week Starts Now & Getting Ready For Halloween

The decision has been made - no running for one week. Seven days; 168 hours; 10,080 minutes - yes, I did just looked up those last two figures. Because my OCD sometimes gets the better of me, I decided I wanted to start running again on November 1st, which would be one week from tomorrow. So, today starts the break. Just pretend my blog is titled "Cross/Strength Train and Eat Sweets" for the next week or so. I bet I last three days.

Today at the gym, I worked out on the elliptical for 45 minutes. If you actually do it right, that machine can really make you sweat (please ignore my Women's Health magazine sitting in front of me). I must be feeling more comfortable with you all, because I think I was still moving on the machine when I took this selfie. Not sure why I thought that was a good idea.

This coming weekend is the unofficial celebration weekend of Halloween; also known as the I-don't-want-to-sound-like-a-grump-but-I-hate-this-holiday holiday. Don't get me wrong, if someone told me tomorrow I could dress up like a baby and walk around collecting giant size candy bars in a pillow case from rich neighbors, I would be the first one out the door. But Halloween is not as carefree anymore. I find it to be a very stressful holiday. You spend $60 on a barely there costume that never seems to fit no matter how much I workout and stand outside in the freezing darkness as drunk people in masks (who may or may not be actual serial killers) creepily approach you. The perk now is that we're old enough to consume adult beverages.

In order to make the night as silly as possible, here are a few of my Halloween purchases so far. Bet you can't guess what I'm dressing up as? And glow bracelets are a must for any gathering...

What's the longest you ever took off from running?

What are you being for Halloween?
