One Day I Will Love Rest Days

One day I will love rest days. I know if I keep repeating the words, it will eventually come true. The fact of the matter is I really enjoy working out. I have probably lost half my readers with that statement, but it's the truth. But I'm not necessarily proud of my workout ethic. While there are so many awesome, wonderful benefits of exercise (overall health, the workout high, oh the workout high), there are times when it's too much. And I've just about hit too much.

So I'm taking my rest days seriously and trying hard to not feel guilty about them. Yesterday instead of doing my normal Monday "two-a-day," I lumped my long workout into one; one hour on the elliptical followed by 30 minutes with my trainer and a 15 minute cool down…

I do read most times when I'm on the Elliptical. While not for everyone, I can't get in my head as well on a machine, so a little reading is a must. I make sure to keep my intensity level up, and the heart rate monitor definitely helps - I check periodically to ensure I'm within 75-80% of my target heart rate.

A couple of weeks ago I had my first ice bath, and last night, I decided to give an Epsom salt bath a try.  I woke up this morning feeling pretty good, but I am not sure if it's a mental thing or if the bath actually worked. I'll never turn down a hot bath, so I'm going with the salt…

Do you read on cardio machines?

Have you tried Epsom salt baths? Has it helped your aches and pains?
