Uncomfortable Workouts, Massages, and Puppies

On Friday night, this happened…and it was awesome.

I'm still Team Gale. Sorry Peeta.

On Saturday, I went to the gym bright and early. One perk of having a kitty that licks your face until you are physically out of bed at 7am is that you get to the gym by 9. I started my workout with a 30 minute run around the gym track. I am 99.9% positive that my mapmyrun tracker was not working properly as it tracked my first mile at 13:30. Unless I was having a seizure while running and was actually walking at a snails' pace, I definitely was running faster than that. I timed my last two miles at around 9:30.

I then did 30 minutes on the elliptical to flush out my legs, followed by weights. One thing PT has taught me is how to push myself a little harder. I'm switching up strength training exercises to work a little harder. Instead of a normal plank, I add in toe touches. I also do mountain climbers in between each set of weight lifting to get that extra burn. It's good to push your body to uncomfortable.

It also helps that I had an 80 minute deep tissue massage scheduled for yesterday afternoon. I can't tell you how therapeutic a good sports massage is. My body has loosened up considerably, and while it hurts during the session - this is not a calming experience - the benefits are worth the pain…

I had dinner with my college roommate last night and finally got to meet her new baby - meet Peeka. Another weekend with a new puppy friend. She made us a wonderful nacho dinner. I ate lots (and lots) of homemade guac…

It is currently 19 degrees out, so if I leave the apartment for any reason other than family dinner, I will call it one productive Sunday.
