We Travel Light

I was sad to leave my family, but after sleeping 10 hours last night, I woke up this morning a new person. That was the most I'd slept since I left for vacation, and today was the most relaxed I'd been in that time as well. Sometimes we just need a vacation from vacation.

I decided that I couldn't let 2013 end without running outside in the cold and snow - turns out that's the secret to speed...


I ran 4, sub 9 minute miles at the track today. I haven't done that in a really long time, so I did a little happy dance before collapsing onto the field…

Tonight, the girls and I had a little reunion dinner, and we decided it's still vacation - jumbo margaritas for all...

Work hard, play hard…er

January 1st starts the spring training cycle. So far, I have two half marathons on the calendar this spring, the first being the Rock 'n' Roll half marathon in Washington DC on March 15th. Washington DC is one of my favorite cities, and I've heard the Rock n Roll races are a blast, so I'm excited to have such a great race to look forward to. I'm still working out my 2014 race goals, but I definitely have some big plans.

What workouts are you squeezing in before saying goodbye to 2013?

How do you "play" after a workout? Food, drinks, both?
