Tip Tuesday - Create Weekly Workout/Food Plans

I spent my day traveling back to Columbus. You know you had an eventful weekend trip when this tag is placed on your bag...

49.7 pounds

First stop Chicago

Then home sweet home. Ohio looked a little…flatter? But I missed her…

I had about three hours to kill at Newark, so I decided to start my Workout/Food Plan for the week. I am pretty good about writing out my workout plans, but food is usually a last minute decision. And at the last minute, I reach for pretzels. I am going to stick with a food plan for the next week and see if I see a difference in my food choices and waistline

A sample of my Wednesday plan below…

7am – Run 4 or Stairs/Elliptical
Pre-Breakfast: Rice Cake/hard boiled egg
Breakfast: Oatmeal/Blueberries/1/4 Banana
Mid Morning Snack: Apple/almond butter
Lunch: Lettuce/tuna/avocado/cucumbers/celery/grape tomatoes
Afternoon Snack: Plain greek yogurt/blueberries/1/4 banana
Dinner: Baked chicken/Quinoa/Veggies
Dessert: Dark Chocolate

I had such a great weekend, but unfortunately I ate way too many foods that I do not normally eat. Because of hibachi, two nights of cheeseburgers, subs for lunch, chips and dips, ice cream cake, more alcohol than usual and not enough water, my stomach severely cramped up on Sunday night forcing me to eat a bowl of cut up fruit for dinner - the only thing that didn't make me nauseous. I went to bed early hoping I would wake up feeling better but the cramping was still there. It was clear all my poor eating habits caused a bad reaction. I was only able to eat oatmeal and cheerios on Monday until dinner when I ate chicken and veggies - another food group I was sorely missing the past 4 days (I easily eat 4-5 servings of veggies per day!).

I spent today attempting to reset my system with more oatmeal and greek yogurt for breakfast and my go-to chicken greek salad in Chicago for lunch...

I feel much better tonight, but all this effort just proves that your body needs to be treated well to function well. The problem was not that I ate a cheeseburger or a slice of ice cream cake. It's that I only ate cheeseburgers and ice cream cake. I needed to even out my splurges with healthy snacks and side dishes and lots of water to properly hydrate.

Oh and in case anyone doubted by intentions to eat really well for a while, this was my grocery haul tonight. I think I'll be good for a few days…

Do you have any tips on how to reset your body after the holiday weekend?
