Let The Next Half Marathon Training Cycle Begin

Another Monday, another rest day, another walk. I made some iced green tea and walked around the neighborhood before work. I used to think rest days meant moving as little as possible, but then I would get frustrated and anxious by being so inactive. Walking is the perfect way to raise my heart rate the teeniest bit while really resting my body. Win - Win.

For lunch I made my new normal salad with baked chicken, but I added one peach instead of an apple and a large beet instead of tomatoes. The peach gave the salad a summer feel. So tasty…

I have semi-officially decided that my next Half Marathon will be the Emerald City Half Marathon in beautiful Dublin, Ohio on August 24th. I say "semi" because I haven't actually registered, but my brain is set.

I like a challenge and this race has a big one - heat! I've never ran a Half in the summer, and as I recall, late August in Ohio is HOT. But then I remember one of my favorite quotes…

If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough.” - Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

I pulled out the trusty training plan and proceeded to mark up my calendar. Training is my absolute favorite! Please remind me of that when I'm complaining around August 10th...

Since I'm apparently already in week two of training (oops), I went to Trader Joe's after work to stock up on all the nutritious goodies I'll need to power through my workouts...

Dinner was the last of my leftover baked chicken on a corn tortilla with lots o' veggies...

And the happiest Monday night surprise was my brother face timing me after dinner. It feels like it's been 10 years since I last saw him. Almost three weeks till he's home!

Are you training for a summer/fall race? Which one?

What training plan do you follow?
