Overcoming Running Fears, Sunshine and Shopping

Saturday morning started awesomely because Bring It On was on TV. I haven't seen this movie in years, but I still remembered every line. Every. Single. Line.

I went back to the trails for the first time since last Fall. I'm not going to lie, I was a little scared. Fact about Kate: I'm very competitive. Not so much with others, but with myself. Being type A to the 99th degree, I decided long ago that I would work really hard to do well at anything in my control.

So running for me is a new kind of challenge. I love it and work hard to improve, but it frustrates me more than anything else I've ever tried, because I can't quite master it. I've had disappointing races and awful training runs, and both leave me somewhat dejected. But I'm also so determined to do better, and that's what keeps me going. Plus, running makes me really happy.

So back to the trails. I was hesitant because it's a hilly route and I didn't want to have another bad run. It was rough, but I did it, and was so happy I did. Something about running in dirt next to the river - it just doesn't get better than that. I will be back every Saturday until the snow comes again. Those hills are exactly what I need to conquer my fall races…

5 somewhat slow, hot and happy miles…

I'm convinced my Garmin lost service or something when I was in the woods around mile 2.5 - 3.5, because I felt faster than a 10 min mile, but who knows. Effort is key, and I was working hard...

Since summer has arrived in Columbus, I spent the afternoon outside on my patio for a few hours reading and snacking. I could get used to this…

I then had to run a few errands and used the cup holders at Target for the first time. What handy little devices…

Words cannot express how difficult it was for me not to purchase this gem. I'm going to have to save this as a reward for my next Half, but yuuuuuuum.

One thing I did buy is a second bed for Stella and she loves it! Happy early birthday to my girl...

I stopped by the running store and saw what I think is a running dress. I can get on board with the running skirt - I really want one of those - but a running dress? I just don't think so…

Sushi and fro-yo = the best way to end a Saturday night…

What was the last thing you were afraid to do?

Running dress - yes/no?

Have you tried the Ben & Jerry's Core ice creams? Tell me everything!
