My Brother Is Back & And So Is The Track

Well yesterday was the best Wednesday in the history of Wednesdays (probably not true, but it was a good day)! First things first. Stella girl is really excited to head back to the East Coast next week…

My mom has never been a fan of breakfast, but since breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, it's kind of a requirement in my house. I've been cooking lots of yummy options, and she has been eating and enjoying them (at least she says she enjoys them) every morning. Yesterday was a toasted whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter, a hard boiled egg and half a banana…

Mom and I went to the track to test out our new Brooks kicks. I ran 3 miles around and she walked about half a mile…

Mile 1: 8:42
Mile 2: 8:25
Mile 3: 8:35

It has taken me about 9 months to run 8:XX miles again. In case you're new to the blog, I severely overtrained for my fall half marathon and never really took a proper recovery period until mid March. I probably could have gotten back to fighting form much faster if I would have taken the time to recover, but you live, you learn. The 8's are still challenging - my easy runs used to be 8:45s - but I'm slowly working my way back to where I was (and hopefully even better!) Listen to your body and TAKE YOUR TIME. It will pay off in the long run (pun 100% intended).

After our workout, mom and I ran a few errands to get ready for MY BROTHER'S RETURN FROM AUSTRALIA!!! He's finally back!

The first picture

My little brother has been interning and having the time of his life in Australia for the past 10 weeks. I have missed him so much!

We brought him to my Aunt and Uncle's where he will be staying for the next few days until we leave for NJ. His "return feast" request was pork roast, garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus with parmesan cheese. It was delicious…

I bought a few goodies at The French Loaf Bakery in Grandview. These macaroons were so good! No one in the family had ever tasted a real macaroon (not the coconut fake thing) before. They loved them!

How long did it take for you to return to your fast pace/long distance after an injury or set back?

Have you ever traveled to Australia?

Favorite macaroon flavor?
