Positive Splits Are Not So Positive & 44 Days To Europe!

I wrote yesterday about how I switched up my normal rest day from Monday to Tuesday. So what do you do on a rest day? This is always a good option…

I was seriously overdue for a mani/pedi. I like the idea of using my rest day for a little pampering. Mom and I showed off our nice nails afterwards…

We came home to lots of Chinese food (thanks, Dad). It's really difficult to eat healthy Chinese food, but you can eat smarter. My go-to meal is steamed chicken and broccoli with steamed brown rice. And I always eat an egg roll because life is short…

This morning was my first personal day off in I don't know how long. And it was awesome. It was rainy in the morning, but the rain stopped around 11, and I went for a longer run. It's so nice being able to go out for a run with nothing on the agenda to come back to.

1 hour of running; 6.3 miles. I went out too fast for a "long" run, and I was really feeling it by mile 4.5. But I kept going, and I was happy with a 9:28 average pace. Those positive splits would make any running coach slam their head against a wall. Once day, I'll learn how to pace myself :)

"Unless you puke, faint, or die, KEEP GOING" - Jillian Michaels

Lunch and snack time was the norm…tuna on one slice ezekiel bread with 1/2 a cucumber, one apple and a pear greek yogurt; 1 c cheerios, 1/4 c kashi crunch and 1/4 c almond milk (I was feeling carbs today). It's so much easier to travel when you have decent food options with you.

I went to the bookstore this afternoon (I really know how to live up my days off, don't I?) and bought guide books for London and Paris. Our trip is only 44 days away!

And then I finally figured out the whole day off thing...

I made dinner for the family again tonight. It's been fun to make actual meals and not 12 shrimp on the stovetop. Six chicken breasts were baked and nothing was leftover.

Have a great hump day, everyone!

Name one thing you did non workout related on your last rest day.

Favorite thing to do on a day off from work?

Do you have any tips for negative splits - besides going slower at the start :) ?
