Happy Sunday from NJ! It still feels like Saturday for me as a whole bunch of us are heading down to Atlantic City tonight to celebrate my brother's 21st birthday at midnight. I still can't believe he's 21, but I think he'll handle adult life just fine…
I stuck to my milage plan and ran 8 miles on Saturday. I did not stick to my "run at a snail's pace" plan. One out of two ain't bad.
Splits: 9:15, 9:28, 9:36, 9:43, 9:52, 9:50, 10:02, 9:53
I felt like I was running really slow, but that first mile was way too fast. It was hot, humid and 10:30 in the morning. It's all mental. I don't want to run 10:XX miles, even though I know it will improve my running long term. This run was manageable - I had a few negative splits - but it was tough. I definitely did not feel like I could run all day. On the plus side, I enjoyed every mile - have I mentioned I'm weird? I like distance, so I'm happy to be running longer and pain free again…
Total weekly milage: 5 runs; 24 miles.
During run fuel - Mixed half the gatorade with water and ate raisins at 45 minute mark.
We had fun last night, and then this morning I ran a 4 mile "shake out the legs" run. It was hot and I had a headache, but I got through it by telling myself that it was only half the distance of yesterday. I talk to myself a lot during my runs.
