My New Do & A Quick Shake Out Run

Happy weekend! We made it. Before I forget for a third day, I have to tell the world that I did something that changed my life…I went brunette (yup, I'm really curing diseases over here). I told everyone on Instagram the other day, but for those of you who could care less don't have Instagram (mom), here's a Friday "outfit of the night" selfie...

I love it more than I've ever loved anything. Ever. Okay, a slight exaggeration, but I really love it. And it's getting me really excited for my favorite season - Fall!

If anyone is in the market for new running shorts, I've been wearing this pair from Lululemon for all of my runs. It may be time for a second pair, because washing them every other day isn't really working out. They fit snug, but not too tight, and have a little zipper pouch on the back for fuel or whatever you feel like carrying...

Friday's run was a short shake out run. I'm planning to go long this morning, and those hills crushed my legs on Thursday, but I'm trying to up my weekly milage, so a short, slow 30 minutes was the plan.

Splits: 9:35, 9:36, 9:46

I ran around my neighborhood, but I don't enjoy doing loops around the same streets over and over again anymore. The track for speed work has a purpose, but I get bored of this location very quickly. I think I may need to say goodbye to the neighborhood for a little while and stick to the reservoir for any runs under 7 miles.

I finished my workout with a good 20 minutes of strength training. It's been a while since I picked up a pair of weights, so I actually enjoyed the squats and dumbbell presses. Who knew...

A little post workout snacking…

My parents are driving my brother back to Columbus this weekend, so I went to Trader Joe's and bought all the essentials. Here's a fun game - try and spot the things I had to buy just for my parents that I never usually have in my house. Hint: It's not the fruits, veggies or coconut water...

The girls and I had dinner at the Wine Bistro. I ate here with my mom when she was in town last month, and I regretted not getting the wine flight. I did not make the same mistake this time around…

And for dinner I had the salmon arugula salad again. When I find something I like, I stick with it…

How far are you running today?

What's your normal weekly milage? I'm trying to stick in the 20's for the rest of August.

Have you ever done a wine tasting? A tasting at a vineyard is on my bucket list.
