The Last Long Run Before Europe - Au Revoir!

The big day is finally here! I've been waiting for this trip my whole life, and it's here. Life is awesome.

I am not sure what the wi-fi situation is going to be, so you may not hear from me until I return. If not, have an awesome 9 days of running, eating, and living, and I'll chat with you all when I am back in the States! If I luck out, I'll try to post at least once in London and once in Paris.

My workout goals overseas are simple - do whatever I feel like doing. I enjoy working out. I don't look at it like a chore, so what better way to explore a new city than by going for a run. With that said, if it doesn't work out with my schedule, so be it. It definitely won't hurt my fitness level or my mental state if I take a little break from running - it may even be beneficial. Whatever happens, I'm cool with it.

To ensure I'll pass out on the plane from exhaustion, I went on a nice long run this morning. I felt amazing the entire time and even ran the second half faster than the first. I think I was stressing about all I had to do before I left, so I was rushing home. The past two weeks of 10 miles were brutal. I stuck to 9 today and felt great. It's funny how that one mile can make a difference. It was also 61 degrees, and I went out nice and early. I'm sure that helped.

My average pace was sub 10 min miles. I noticed sub 10 was possible around mile 6 and really pushed the last three to get in 9 miles under an hour and a half…

Pre-run, during run (tried the vanilla bean GU today - chocolate is better), and post run fuel. My parents were out of bananas, so I put a few apple slices on my rice cake with peanut butter. It was an okay alternative…

Okay, I have to go make sure I have everything. Have a great weekend/week/next weekend everyone, and I'll be back soon!
