The Training Cycle Is Over - Let the Carb Loading Begin

The 2014 Fall Half Marathon training cycle is over. I didn't have an official start date to my training, but I did start increasing my milage in July, and it's been a really positive three months. I made sure to listen to my body when it came to increasing my milage, and I made recovery (sleep, foam rolling, deep tissue massages) a priority. Now I have to trust all my training and go into Sunday feeling confident that I will accomplish my goal. And if I don't, there's always pancakes.

Today was my last taper workout before race day. I ran for 20 minutes around my neighborhood (splits: 9:26; 8:41), and then hopped on the StairMaster for 12 minutes finishing with a few minutes of weights and ab work…

I may have put paper towels on the bars of the StairMaster because it's flu season. And you know, there are other diseases out there...that start with "E."

In my attempt to eat a little healthier, I created this awesome greek yogurt concoction. I usually eat the Chobani or Fage with the fruit included, but that's a ton of processed sugar our bodies do not need. So today I mixed together 1/2 cup of plain fage yogurt, 1 tbsp of almond butter and cinnamon with an apple. It was delicious!

To add a little extra motivation to the end of the taper, TimeHop informed me that I ran my first half marathon 3 years ago today! That will be a day I never forget…

And now I'll be sitting like this for the next three days…

Who's racing this weekend?

What's your favorite greek yogurt recipe?
