Workout Goal Fail & The Benefits Of Healthy Fats

So I didn't even last one day in my workout goal. I had training at 8am Wednesday morning and after hitting what I thought was the snooze button at 5:45am, I woke up at 8:17. Yup. I'm sure it would be easier to wake up earlier if I didn't go to bed at 12:30 am. Maybe I should work on that too.

So no strength training workout yesterday, but I did get in my planned 5 miles. The wind was roaring, so they were a TOUGH 5 miles, but I made it through. My Garmin tells me the wind speed was 17 MPH, and compared to Tuesday's 7 MPH, 17 was rough. Please God, don't let there be wind, rain or snow on race day. Thank you!

I wore my favorite t-shirt that I bought at an expo back in March. It was cheap and already has a teeny hole on the side (I've worn it twice), but the message is perfect...

Peace Love Run

I've struggled with my nutrition in the past and really learned in the past year the benefits of eating healthy fats. There was a period of time when I literally had no fat in my diet, and my body stopped functioning properly. Now I know that fats are necessary for our bodies to function (especially women), and I consume quite a bit of healthy fat on a daily basis. Healthy fats include nuts, avocados, naturally fatty fish like salmon, oils, eggs, flaxseeds and chia seeds. Add these foods to your diet, and watch your body tone up and slim down. You can read more about the benefits of eating healthy fats here

My afternoon snack was a rice cake with a tbsp of natural crunchy peanut butter and one hard boiled egg...

I saw this picture on Instagram the other day and couldn't stop laughing. Story of my life…

Dinner was a Trader Joe's Greek Salad (more healthy fats) and shrimp with added veggies…

Do you eat enough healthy fats?

What's the hardest run you've had in a while? Yesterday's 5 miler was harder than Sunday's 10.
