I Cheated On My Running Shoes & Went Back To High School

So I cheated on my favorite running shoe company and feel really bad about it. I have tried and tried to resist the temptation, but no matter where I turned, the Mizuno Waverider 18's were calling my name. So I gave in.

Forget Disney, this is the happiest place on Earth. I do think it's funny that I will go back and forth on spending more than $100 on a normal pair of shoes, but I don't blink when it comes to running shoes....

I haven't abandoned my beloved Brooks. I really wanted a second pair of shoes to alternate between my runs so my shoes lasted a little longer during marathon training. I haven't been able to find a Brooks shoes that I love as much as the Ghost 7s, and I didn't want to buy a second pair of those, so I went with the Mizuno Waverider 18s.

The Waveriders are a perfect neutral shoe and from what I read, they compare nicely with the Ghosts. I do like that they are a little lighter. I don't run well yet in super light shoes (which is why the PureFlows became my cross training shoe), but this seems like a step in the right direction to moving toward lighter shoes.

Aren't they beautiful?

I will probably try them out next week and use them for short runs until I feel comfortable upping my milage in them. I hope this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

On Tuesday I had personal training and went on the StairMaster for 30 minutes prior to my session. I cancelled my gym membership since I'm heading back to my favorite gym in my new town when I move, and I think my trainer was punishing me for doing so.

We did 5 rounds of 3 exercises, 3 times. For example, he had me do 5 full body pushups, 10 kettlebell swings, 15 mountain climbers, repeat 5 times. Then we did 5 throw ball to wall squats, 10 rope swings, 15 jumping jacks, repeat 5 times. And one more round of ab work. I finished my workout with 15 minutes on the Elliptical, and today is a much needed rest day!

I tried a new Pumpkin Chobani flavor because my goal is to eat them all. I usually go for the 0% fat versions (old habits die hard), but I know they're not good for you, so I'm dabbling with the 2% yogurts. I added some cinnamon for a little kick, and it was delicious. This flavor has 3 grams less sugar than my normal Chobani flavors, so that's a huge plus. Every bit counts!

Last night I played mom to my cousin and went to her Cross Country awards ceremony. It was so great to hear about the team's accomplishments and see her accept her letter and award for Varsity and Captain. A huge congrats to little M and her team!

Do you use more than two different types/brands of shoes?

Hardest workout so far this week? My personal training session Tuesday!

Did you play a sport in high school? I was not even remotely athletic. I did theater.
