Mornings Are Awesome & A Snack Experiment Fail

Hey everyone. I hope your week is going well. The weather people are predicting snow for Columbus on Sunday, so be prepared for a very "woe is meeeeee" post then. For now, I'm enjoying the last of our low 60's.

I woke up at my Aunt and Uncle's (I was hanging out with my cousin the past few days), and I got to watch this amazing sunrise from bed. Mornings are awesome...

I ran 5 miles before work Monday morning along the trails. My legs still feel a little heavy, so I'm going to take it easy the next couple of days. I realized I haven't taken a rest day since last Monday. Whooops. Wednesday/rest day is going to be awesome. 

I'm used to running in cooler weather, and it was not cool enough on Monday morning. I'm fairly certain I started overheating around mile 3.1, but I finished the 50 minutes I had planned. Dear Mother Nature, if you could keep the temperature 44 degrees for all runs all year long, I would appreciate it.

I found some coupons from my Half that I was going to use on new shoes, but that veeeerrrryyyy fine prints says Brooks and Mizuno shoes are excluded. Rude, Dicks Sporting Goods. Rude. PSA: read the fine print on coupons. 

In attempts to eat a tad healthier, I've been looking for ways to spice up plain Greek yogurt. I tried almond butter a few weeks ago, and it tasted pretty good, but I thought I could make my snack even more exciting by adding cocoa powder... 

I was wrong. It did not taste good. Turns out cocoa powder without sugar is just powder. It was a valiant effort, but I'm heading back to the drawing board... 

To make up for my less than appetizing greek snack, I had the best greek salad for dinner at Aladdin's with the girls. I'm going to have to start researching Mediterranean restaurants in my new town ASAP to ensure I don't have hummus/pita/feta cheese/olives withdrawals...

How many rest days per week do you take? I normally take 2. 

How do you spice up plain greek yogurt without adding tons of sugar??
