Never Have I Ever...Until Today!

Ran in snow! I've never done it before but can now check it off the bucket list. And now I feel like a mix of Wonder Woman and Anna after she's iced by Elsa. Powerful yet frozen...

But let's rewind to Tuesday's workout. Because it was 12 degrees out, I dressed like this to walk to my apartment's gym...

I haven't ran more than 3.1 ish miles on the treadmill in a very long time. Since I have to get used to treadmill runs again (boo you, winter), I ran 4 easy miles on Tuesday. They went by surprisingly quick and pain free. I listened to an episode of Serial and ran each mile a tad faster than the previous one. Negative splits are easy to achieve on treadmill runs. Bright side.

I ran a very different 4 miles on Wednesday night. Since I live in Ohio where it snows all the time, I figured they plowed everything...including high school tracks. I was wrong. The track looked like this...

After almost slipping three times on my little test jog (I made it half a lap), I had to get creative. I saw the big open football field and thought I'd give snow running a try. If I hated it, I'd go home and eat chocolate.

I LOVED it! It was really hard and I was really slow, but I found my groove around mile 3 and enjoyed every second of it. Trail/bad weather running is so great for making our bodies stronger. I could feel muscles working in my legs that don't usually activate as I had to leap in and out of snow...

If I had one concern, it was that even though it was 5:15pm, it was pitch black out and the lights at the track were not on because no normal person would be running at the track after a snow storm. If I run at night again, I should probably do it in a more lit/populated area. I'm not sure how great my self defense skills are, and I don't plan on finding out any time soon. Remember, safety first! Run with friends and in well lit areas!

After my run, I went to the grocery store to pick up "friends-giving" fixins and found these. I did not buy them and that decision was more difficult than my snow run. Hey mom, stocking stuffer??

Packing is coming along, and even though we have 10 more days in Columbus, I think Stella is ready to head back to Jersey...

What's one running-related thing you've never done?

Treadmill: Love it/hate it?
