That First Workout Back Is A Tough One

So I am totally one of those people who classifies the holiday season as November 1st - New Years, but it all kinda snuck up on me. I was at Whole Foods and smelled what I thought was a Christmas Tree while picking apples. Lo and behold...


I didn't work out for the full four days we were in Chicago and that's the longest I've gone since Europe. I've read up on "losing fitness," and know it takes a little more time, but my workout on Tuesday was hard. Really really hard. 

I had personal training - my first strength training session since before my Half - and ran for 15 minutes beforehand. After struggling through my run and my training session (my arms hurt a lot today), I ran another half mile and finished with 12 minutes on the elliptical. When I struggle through a workout, I'm reminded how important it is to stay consistent and to take care of my body (rest, eat well, repeat). 


Post workout, I tried a new Chobani flavor. It was tasty, but I'm pretty certain they had this flavor last year. Maybe they do limited batches of the same flavors once a year? Anyone? 


I went to TJ's last night and was craving healthy, pre-made food. It exists, I swear. I grabbed some cooked chicken and sushi (I ate 3 pieces last night and the rest for lunch today) and steamed some veggies for a quick and easy, delicious dinner... 


My run this morning went a little easier than yesterday's workout. 3 miles followed by 12 minutes on the elliptical and some fun ab work thrown in at the end... 


We had family dinner tonight since I missed the last two Sundays, and after grabbing my brother at Ohio State, we saw the coolest sky... 




And then we ate the best dinner. It's my Aunt and Uncle's 26th wedding anniversary today, so of course they wanted nothing more than to spend time with us :)


And dessert... 


I hope your week has been filled with great sweat sessions and brownies... 

Do the holidays start before or after Thanksgiving? 

Longest you can sanely go without working out? I start going a little crazy after 3 days

Favorite dessert? Ice cream on top of brownies! Or pie. Or chocolate things :)
