The Cold Is Here & Working Out In The Ideal Heart Rate Zone

Happy Sunday, friends! I'm hanging out with my cousin this weekend, but I think I'm really here to keep her animals company. My life the past day and a half...

No food for you

In other news, it became winter in Columbus...

Because the cold weather has set in, I had to wear running capris Saturday. And I wasn't happy about it...

I've been sticking with my "have fun and don't stress about running XX miles per week" plan, and my body is really liking it. Friday's workout was 20 mins: treadmill; 20 mins: stairs; 10 mins: Elliptical with a little ab work at the end...

Just because I'm running less does not mean I stop running altogether. I ran the trails for the first time since my Half, and those hills/dirt paths hurt. It was a good hurt for about 4.3 miles. Then a not so great hurt to the finish, but I made it through.

5 Miles - Splits: 9:39, 9:06, 9:29, 9:47, 9:48

Do you ever have those runs where you feel like you're running a full minute faster than you actually are? Isn't it the worst? That was miles 4 and 5 for me yesterday. My heart rate the entire run was an average of 88% of max and at one point, I hit 92% of max. Different "experts" will tell you different things, but generally you want to keep your heart rate around 80% of max on long runs. Some say even lower. 92% of max during what should have been an easy run was a bad idea. You live, you learn. Here's a handy little article from Runner's World if you want to read up on heart rate zones...

I really really love running along the river...

Post workout lunch...

I move three weeks from today (where has the time gone?!), so I went to Target yesterday and bought things for my new bathroom. It's borderline sad what makes me really excited. Stella's a fan...

Have a great Sunday, everyone!

How are you sweating this week?

Last Target purchase?
