A (Mostly) Restful Weekend With Lots Of Food

Good morning! And we're back to Monday. Sigh. Buuuuut 17 days till Santa comes to town!

I took a little running break this weekend as my IT band started acting up last week and is still feeling blah. I'm really trying to listen to my body right now. Especially since Marathon training starts in LESS THAN 1 MONTH. January 5th is d-day, and I have to try to get in a couple of 8-10 milers before then, so if rest is needed, rest will happen.

I went to the gym Saturday morning and did 45 minutes on the Elliptical (with a little fit-spiration in the form of Julianne Hough on the cover of Shape mag) and then a little strength training/ab work. The elliptical did not upset my legs at all - gotta love low-impact cardio. I may be on the Elliptical a little more this week than I originally had planned, but I'm just thankful I'm able to workout. No sweating = very moody me.

After my workout, I went back to my favorite hairdresser - I've been going to her since I was a senior in High School!), and she made my hair perfect again. I missed her...

I hung out with my friends on Saturday night, and we ate dinner at the Coal House. I haven't eaten here in years, so I was excited to be back. My chicken panini was yum...

And I'm not the biggest fan of normal cannolis (I know, I know), but I really enjoyed my ice cream cannoli. I'm sure this is what you give the 5 year olds :)

Sunday was a much needed rest day, so I ate oatmeal with peanut butter instead of going to the gym. Whenever I run out of bananas, I use nut butter instead. And it's oh so good...

Trader Joe's is now down the street from my new apartment, which is more than half the reason I moved here. I bought all the necessities for the week...

And my mouth watered over these goodies, but I did not buy them. A major pat on the back to me...

I went to visit the fam for football watching and played some rounds of Clue with my buddies. I haven't played this game since I was a kid! The game has been updated, so there's now a flatscreen TV in the Game Room...

After a lot of snacking this weekend, Sunday's dinner was shrimp, veggies and a few pieces of TJ's brown rice California roll...

After last week's sub-par workouts, I'm excited to go hard at the gym this week. I'm finally feeling settled in my new place, so I'm hoping my brain can focus on working hard before a few weeks of holiday parties/cookie making/cookie eating madness happens.

How did you sweat this weekend?

Best thing you ate? Ice cream cannoli!
