First Long Run Before Marathon Training - Success!

Happy weekend! I am up bright and early on this Saturday to meet the Bestie for her final dress fitting and to finish up some last minute wedding planning. One week from right now, we'll be at the hair salon!

I mentioned I'm resting on Saturdays until after next week as there is too much wedding things to do, so I did my long 9 mile run at the trails on Friday. Running fuel: one chocolate outrage GU and water. I took the GU at 45 minutes and slowly consumed the full packet for 2-3 minutes...

I've never ran this far this soon into training (before training, actually), but my legs feel great. I basically feel like I could run a Half marathon in a few weeks, which is good because my training plan has me running 14 miles in three weeks. The splits were not clean (no negative split run here), but I spent a lot of time in the woods where I switched my watch to only show my heart rate (effort). I can't focus on speed when I'm hopping over branches next to a straight drop to the reservoir. Don't worry mom - I only almost fell once :)

My playlist only lasted 65 minutes (don't ask me why I picked that playlist), and I was too lazy to fumble with my iPhone, so I had no music for about 22 minutes of my run. I've never gone that long before, and it was great. I practiced my speech for the wedding next week in my head. I definitely need to try the whole no music thing again and work out life problems instead.

Splits: 10:48 (I got lost in the first five minutes of my run - not kidding), 9:39, 10:05, 9:06, 9:08, 9:46, 9:27, 9:40, 9:29...

And because I just have to take trail pics of my shoes...

After my run, I had to run to the grocery store as I had no food in my apartment. Tip: Do not go grocery shopping after running for 87 minutes. You will buy everything...

Yup, all for me. In other amazing news, my normal grocery store started stocking Quest bars. I purchased 10 to be sure they would last me a little while in case the store changes their mind. In Columbus, I was only able to get them at Whole Foods, and here in NJ, they were only at GNC stores in NYC, so I'm very happy about this...

Lunch was the normal TJ salad (no dressing) thing - A harvest grilled chicken salad...

Unbroken finally arrived at the Library! I LOVED the movie, but I usually read the books first. I'm really looking forward to reading this...

And I don't even have to mention this because I know everyone was watching, but HOCUS POCUS WAS ON TV. And it's not Halloween :)

How far are you running this weekend?

What's you favorite childhood movie? I think the Goonies still ranks supreme, but Hocus Pocus is in the top 3.
