Marathon Training Recap: Week 6

So I started writing this post on Friday, and it's now Sunday morning. Apparently I can't publish a post to save my life this week. The real job has been crazy busy, and that pays the bills, so we deal. I'll be much better next week. I hope.

I've been failing on the blogging scene, but my Marathon training has been going really well. So far, my body is responding positively to the 4 days running/1 day cross training/2 days off plan. Since we haven't chatted all week, I'll just do a quick recap of week 6 of Marathon Training...

Sunday: Rest; Monday: Spin - 50 minutes; Tuesday: 4 treadmill miles; Wednesday: 4.5 treadmill miles; Thursday: 3.5 treadmill miles; Friday: Rest; Saturday: 13.2 outdoor miles.

On Friday, I went to the local Road Runner store to buy more Gus. While there, I told the sales associate that my ankles were hurting toward the end of my longer runs and she recommended these compression sleeves. I have been wanting to buy ProCompression socks for a while, so I'll try these for a few runs and see if the full socks are something I'd be interested in...

Saturday's long run was an exciting one for me, because I've never ran 13.1 miles on my own. And whenever I ran that distance in a race, my legs always felt like they were going to fall off by mile 12. I felt really strong throughout the entire run. I fueled with Gus at minutes 45 and 84ish. My training plan called for 13.1 miles, but I just couldn't help going a little bit farther...

13.2 miles/9:41 Average Pace

PS my PR for the Half is 2:05:37. I hit 13.1 in 2:06:30. My running has improved so much that I came close to PR-ing during a training run. I know it doesn't count, but that would have been awesome.

And a few favorites of the week...

It doesn't get much more lazy than this. Hardboiled/peeled eggs from TJ's sure made snacking easier this week...

InStyle magazine pretending it's not 5 degrees out right now. Apparently Spring is coming :)

Do you wear compression gear? Thoughts?

How far did you run this weekend?
