It's Time To Go Run A Marathon! Pre-Race Meals & Race Goals

Happy race day!!! I'm just sitting over here eating oatmeal at 4:15am. 16 weeks of training have led to today. Fingers crossed, it's a great day!

I had two rest days - Friday and Saturday - to get my body and brain ready for Sunday. They were a long two days, but I spent a lot of time stretching, resting my legs and lounging. I also did some light reading to get myself in the racing mindset...

And I carb-loaded...a lot.

11 am breakfast

I made my way to the race expo on Saturday afternoon to pick up my bib and study the race map. FYI, all that blue to the right of the map is ocean. It's going to be such a beautiful course...

Lucky 1010!

The all important pre-race dinner included sushi (that's been my pre-long run meal this training cycle - the rice agrees with me) and a few soft pretzels from one of my favorite restaurants...

Before going to bed last night, I made sure to lay out everything I will need for the race including sunscreen to make sure I don't forget anything this morning...

A few quick goals for today's race...

**My Average Goal is just to finish. Running 26.2 miles is an accomplishment in itself, and I'm going to look at it that way and try to enjoy the view from start to finish.

**My Practical Goal is sub 4 hours and 30 minutes. I've trained for this time, and I know I can do it if my body stays in tact.

**My Stretch Goal is sub 4 hours. To be honest, I don't think this is in the cards today, but who knows!

I guess that's it, folks. I'll see you on the other side of the finish line!

Who is racing this weekend? Good luck!
