Bad Runs In NYC & Great Runs in NJ

Happy Friday Eve! Monday was a rest day and I spent the night in NYC. I love walking through Columbia University's campus. It just blows my mind that all of that brilliance is in one little part of Manhattan. I also love that the Library was always a frequent external shot in How I Met Your Mother (dumbed that right down, didn't I?)...

I went for a run through the north end of Central Park Tuesday morning, and it was ROUGH. Like the worst run of my life, rough. There are LOTS of hills in that area and it was 80 degrees at 6am with lots of humidity. My run lasted a whole 3.3 miles, but even a bad run is better than no run at all. So said some stupid person once upon a time...

The last hill I had to climb before turning home towards my friend's apartment. I may have cried a little...

Since I was staying with friends, I didn't make my normal breakfast, so I ordered a Starbucks original oatmeal and added a packet of flaxseeds (great for on the go meals!), blueberries/banana and added an iced coffee the size of my head...

On Wednesday, I was back at my apartment and woke up like this. Stella girl is in a new phase where she really enjoys holding hands. I just put my hand out, palm up, and she places her paw right on top. It's adorable and reason #36754 why I'm single...

I really needed an easy run to get my brain out of this "I suck at running, and I'm never getting out of bed again" funk, so I went to the gym to make sure that easy run happened on the treadmill. My body knocked out the emergency stopper thing 2.14 miles in, so I had to spend a minute figuring out how to put it back in place. Good to know the belt really does stop that quickly.

6ish miles at an easy-peasy pace - This run felt GREAT! Hallelujah!

I met my mom for dinner on Wednesday night and we enjoyed some wine, yummy appetizers and an excellent dinner.

These spinach/mozzarella rice ball things were AH-mazing. So much for my no dairy rule for one night...

And then I was craving a panini for dinner. Mom was in the middle of singing "Happy Birthday" to the gentlemen sitting behind me as I snapped this pic. She gets so excited :)

We ended the night with a pretty great sunset. I'm loving my balcony this summer...

How have your workouts gone this week?

What foods have you been craving lately? Grape Leaves - how weird is that?
